About

I was born in Brazil - one of the most beautiful tropical countries in the world and home of a rich, lush, and exotic flora. I always had my heart set on one day being an ambassador and advocate for the preservation of this gift to humanity. Fast forward to 3 years ago when I was approached by the beyond talented artisans/artists who harvest, dehydrate, and preserve the plants in 18k gold. It was love at first sight! The rest is history and CARLA SHAW Sustainable Fashion was founded in July of 2021. In the middle of the pandemic, however, my desire in sharing this beautiful work, and to promote sustainability could not wait – when you do the right thing, any time is the right time.

A fun fact that most people don't know about me is that my real name is Carla Wahnon, but I decided to use my husband’s last name, Shaw, as a symbolic way of saying “I do” one more time. Bill has always backed my passion and aspirations to succeed as an entrepreneur in the fashion industry and his support means the world to me.

The CARLA SHAW collection is exactly what I always envisioned; each piece is produced by hand, through a delicate process, and coated in hypoallergenic 18-karat gold, originating jewels of singular design and impeccable finish.

I live in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with my husband, Bill, and our spoiled dog Liam Edward (8-year-old Silky Terrier mix).
